Breathtaking Cherry Blossoms

282665.jpg

In the midst of the pandemic, good thing that spring still comes on time in order to cheer us up. My family and I went to Shinjuku Gyoen, a park located in the middle of Shinjuku. It is famous for being so wide and for containing a huge variety of plants and trees. There are many kinds of cherry blossoms, which I can’t really differentiate, but they’re all very beautiful. Sakura trees were completely filled with dark pink, bright pink, and even white petals. It is the first time my parents had ever seen cherry blossom in their lives. They said it was very satisfying and would recommend to see it again, once the situation gets completely safe. Don’t forget to stay inside, wash your hands, wear masks, and keep physical distance. Stay safe, everyone!

Deserted...

Last week, I was at Haneda airport for my flight home. There was almost nobody else besides me and the airport staffs. COVID-19 pandemic had stopped many flights and many people have taken precautions not to travel anywhere. I never thought an airport, especially in Tokyo, could ever be this empty. Even inside the plane there were barely anyone, yet the flight was still reassuring. It was a thrilling experience. Stay safe everyone, and don’t forget to wear masks and wash your hands!

My First Roller Coaster

a.jpg

Have you ever been to Tokyo Dome City? Have you played the roller coaster there? For the first time in my life, I had my roller coaster experience there! The roller coaster is called “Thunder Dolphin”, and it was very scary. I tried to open my eyes every time, but it didn’t work. I sometimes closed them by reflex. My friend, who is used to ride on various roller coasters, admitted that Thunder Dolphin is one of the scariest roller coaster in Japan. Not only extremely fast, the rail is also located pretty high so it increases the frightfulness. After the ride ended, my entire body was trembling and I could barely feel my hands. I had to hold onto my friend to walk down the stairs for a few minutes….. but after that, we just laughed it off! It was a such contradicting experience: horrific yet fun and addictive. To people who want to challenge themselves in riding these kinds of attractions, I recommend you “Thunder Dolphin”! It’s very worth it.

Kamakura ❤️

Last week, I did some sightseeing at Kamakura.
Something that is amazing when you live in Tokyo is that you can easily organize a last minute trip without taking the shinkansen or the plane. Indeed, there are so many interesting place to visit nearby like Kamakura (only 1 hour away by train from Tokyo).
And this is what I did, I planed this little trip the same morning I left, and it was breathtaking. The temples and sanctuaries were beautiful, and the daibutsu was very impressive.

I had a lot of fun.

About Music

Music is my life. I love listening to music any time of the day, when I wake up or when I take a shower, when I am on the train or while I’m eating. I love all kinds of music, even if I mainly listen to pop. One of my favorite singers is Lana Del Rey. I love her music, she is so unique and talented, I really recommend you to listen to her! I also really like going to concerts and hearing my favorite singers live!
What kind of music do you listen to? Do you prefer Japanese music or do you listen to any genre like me?

Snacks!

The best thing I've ever eaten in japan is the japanese snacks. There are all sorts of snacks here, but my favourites one are KitKats. KitKats are different in Japan than in Europe, for example in Europe or America only two flavors are available, white chocolate and milk chocolate, sometimes there are special editions but rarely. Here in Japan you can find ANY type of taste, from macha to strawberry ice cream flavor but also pudding or mochi flavor. It is truly exceptional, I hope to try them all sooner or later!

Social Networks

Social networks are different from country to country. In Japan, for example, most people use Line, which is almost unknown in the rest of the world. In Europe we often use Whatsapp which is very similar to Line and is also used in the United States. A social network that is used almost all over the world is instagram, which in recent years has taken the place of Facebook which is now being used less and less. And what kind of social networks do you prefer? Do you like using social networks?

Snacks that Motivate My Studies

266749.jpg

Not long ago, I found a really good cafe near my dorm. I went there to study together with a friend. We ordered a drink and a pumpkin cake each. I never liked pumpkin before, but this one is so good! It might be a bit pricey but it was worth it. We finished the food quickly and stayed in the cafe until we finished studying. I almost have never been this productive before. When I study or do my assignments in my own room, I often get distracted by other things and thus, takes more time to finish it. However, when being motivated with such delicious snacks and accompanied by a friend, I become very productive. We will definitely come again next time.

Senso-Ji Temple in Asakusa

One of my favorite places here in Tokyo is Senso-ji temple in Asakusa. I think it's one of the first things I visited when I came here in Japan and one of the things that impressed me the most. At the entrance of the temple there is a street full of markets and shops where you can buy lots of typical Japanese objects or eat delicious food. It is also a very fascinating place to take pictures or admire Japanese culture. I recommend going in the less busy hours because on the weekend it is often full of tourists.

Queen in the Park - The Exhibition

The other day I went with my friend to Ginza to visit an exhibition in honour of the famous English rock band "Queen". It would be really exciting and interesting for anyone who is fan of this rock band. It was very nice to be able to listen to Bohemian Rhapsody in high quality or doing a karaoke competition on the notes of We Are The Champions or dancing on Another One Bites the Dust. The exhibition is in Sony Park in Ginza an it is also free and available until the end of March so I absolutely recommend you go if you love Queen's music like me.

Saturday night in 東京

One thing i love about Tokyo are the night clubs and discos. I love to go with my friends on Saturday night or Friday night to dance and have fun, and also in Tokyo there are many places to dance and the choice is really wide. One of my favorite places is Shinjuku, although there are also plenty of night clubs in Shibuya. Roppongi is also an excellent choice although it is often very expensive. Today is Saturday, have you planned to go out somewhere?

Edo Tokyo Museum

The other day I went with a friend to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. It was a very nice day and I had a lot of fun with my friend Adriane. I was very surprised to see the ancient Japanese houses and to be able to enter them. I had a unique and wonderful experience, I recommend anyone to go there. In addition, near the museum there is a very nice park where you can take lots of photos or rest or maybe have a picnic. Of course I recommend you go on a sunny day as it is outdoors.

Photography 写真

One of my greatest passions is photography. I love taking pictures since I was a child and obviously this passion has increased staying here in Japan. In Tokyo there are so many interesting places to take pictures, for example parks or countryside areas. To take my pictures I use a vintage camera that my father gave me a few years ago, it's a Nikon FE. In addition, I often use a Polaroid or disposable cameras.

New Shoes!

D04769F1-586A-4A78-B0D3-4380FAC65261.jpg

Besides action figures, I’m also interested in the world of sneakers, especially casual shoes. The picture on the left is the new shoes that I just bought several weeks ago, when they were on sale. The simplicity and the comfort as I wear these shoes has blown my mind. The price are not too expensive either, around ¥10000 after sale. The midsole of these shoes are so soft that you are not going to get frustrated even after hours and hours of traveling with these. The colour-way is simple and not overcrowding the shoes. I will definitely walk around with these shoes more often than any other shoes that I have.

Action Figures

I’ve been obsessed with action figures since I was in junior high school. Not only they look cool, but they also reflect my obsession with superheroes, especially in movies. I save and invest some money on these figures to decorate my table. However, I am still far away from being a hardcore collector, since I really don’t want to spend a lot of money and making this routine as a hobby. They are all posable with several jointed limbs, so you can move them and change their position in whatever manner or fashion you like. Isn’t that interesting? Don’t get too addicted though, it might be dangerous for your wallet.

♨️ Oedo Onsen Monogatari ♨️

Yesterday, I went to Oedo Onsen Monogatari, and it was an incredible experience. I have never been to an onsen before so this, was my first experience. This place is very interesting because the atmosphere and decoration reflect the edo period, which is very nice. It felt like I was in a japanese summer festival (without the fireworks). It’s a nice place if you need to relax and escape the stressful life of Tokyo from time to time 😊

This day in Oedo Onsen Monogatari definitely made me want to try a real natural onsen ! I am ready for it ! ♨️

Shinjuku Station

Do you know that Shinjuku Station is the busiest station in the world? Yes, the busiest one among any other stations that ever existed. Besides the fact that Shinjuku is also a busy city, it provides 53 train platforms for the passengers to transfer between each train. Approximately 3.64 million people are served by this station per day, isn’t that crazy? This station is also big that even I often get lost, no matter how many times I’ve visited this majestic, hectic station. So, whenever you have to stop by at Shinjuku Station, make sure you read all the signs and directions, or ask somebody if you get lost because trust me, you don’t want to get lost in this sea of people.

Purikura!

You won’t experience the true Japanese culture without visiting this place. Purikura (プリクラ), which you can find at most places in Japan, is Japanese typical photo booth where you can take pictures together with your fellow friends, family, or even by yourself (I don’t suggest you do it alone, though). It originated from a Japanese video game arcade industry by Sasaki Miho in 1994. However, this is not an ordinary photo booth that you can find anywhere else. Purikura lets you pick your own filters, decorate even with a stylus pen to make it prettier/uglier (whichever you like)! Most of the themes are girly related, so you might predict the customers of this typical photo booth. I went here once with my friends from Indonesia, and we took a picture together. Fun fact, it took us longer to edit those photos than taking them. Nonetheless, the result was magnificent and fabulous.
