Rainbow Bridge in Odaiba

Have you ever been to the Rainbow Bridge in Odaiba? I went there some time ago and took this picture. The scenery at night looks really beautiful, and I actually stayed there since the sunset. To be honest, I was expecting the bridge to light up in colorful lights, as it is called “rainbow” bridge. Turns out, there is only one color, white. Nevertheless, it did not make the scenery less beautiful. It is definitely recommended to bring your camera as well, so you can treasure the memories of visiting there.

Canyoning in Minakami

What is your favourite summer sport or activity? Recently I am falling in love with an exciting activity called canyoning. Do you have any ideas of canyoning? Have you ever tried it before?

Canyoning is travelling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling, and swimming. You don’t need to be an excellent swimmer, but you need to be able to swim and not to panic in the water. And also not afraid of heights because you may need to jump from a spot or use the zipline to travel to other side! Below is the picture of me rappelling down a 20 meters waterfall. It was scared but also challenging!

There are many good places for canyoning in Japan. If you like nature and outdoor sports, canyoning is definitely a must-try activity in your life! Looking forward to hearing your canyoning experience!

Thank You, Tokyo 2020!

From August to September 2021, I joined as a guide staff for Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics at the Olympic Village. I gained so many once in a lifetime experiences that I’m sure I won’t ever forget. I got to practice both my English and Japanese at the same time, since my job was to guide international athletes to their transportation (bus, taxi) and talk to the driver. I spent several time talking to athletes as well, asking where they are from, and what do they think about Japan. To my surprise, most of them thought I was Japanese, so I had to explain to them that I am an exchange student from Indonesia. In a way, it makes me happy because it means my Japanese has improved.

Climbing Mountain Fuji

Time flies! My first time seeing Mountain Fuji was 2 years ago and I miss climbing this beautiful mountain already!

There are different trails to climb Mountain Fuji. I am a beginner climber so I chose the easiest one, the Yoshida trail. It takes between 5-10 hours to reach the summit. Most of the climbers will start from the Kawaguchi-ko 5th station, then going to the 6th, 7th, 8th station. People usually stay in a hostel and take a rest and get ready for the next day climbing to the summit.

The next day, we need to wake up between 2-3 in the early morning to have breakfast and get ready to reach the summit by the sunrise comes. It was exhausting but you would find it worthy after you reached the top of the mountain and see how beautiful the surrounding is.

It may be quite challenging for people not doing sports occasionally, so remember to do some exercise and train your body before going to climb Mountain Fuji!

SkyTree in the Blue Sky

Tokyo Skytree is often listed as one of the must-visit spots for tourists in Japan, but did you know that besides the observatory deck, there is also a mall with a bunch of wonderful stores? From Oshiage Station, there is a direct way to the mall called “Solamachi”, and it is also connected to the Skytree observatory deck. In Solamachi itself, there are clothes stores, accessories stores, Disney store, restaurants, character cafes, and many more. Furthermore, on the rooftop, there is always a seasonal event being held. One time, there was a mini zoo where we can pet some of the animals, a temporary swimming pool for the summer, and illumination. Do not forget to check the mall out when you visit Tokyo Skytree!

The Beauty of Venus Fort

Last week, I went to Venus Fort mall in Odaiba with my friend. We had an event nearby and had lunch there after we finished. I really love Venus Fort mall’s aesthetic inside, which is like a European style buildings. I took a picture of the wonderful fountain complemented with the sky-painted roof. The spot is a famous tourist area since I also saw a bunch of foreigners taking pictures there. This mall is very recommended if you want to take instagrammable pictures! Actually, when we were inside the mall, the weather outside was really stormy. We could not even start heading home, so we spent several hours wandering around the mall, which was super nice.

Paella Time!

Last week, I went to eat paella for the first time at an Italian Restaurant in Shibuya. Usually when one mentions Italian food, we often think pasta, pizza, spaghetti, and risotto, right? I did not even know there is a menu called “paella” before in my life. As my friend explained to me that it is rice with tomato sauce, I thought it would be similar to a doria. However, it turns out that the taste is completely different! The tomato feels fresh, and the vegetables complements the taste perfectly. Furthermore, the place was also nice because it was on the top of Shibuya Scramble Square, where we can enjoy the skyscraper scenery.

Sunshine behind the Rain

Yesterday, the weather was unexpectedly good. The forecast said that it might rain, so I brought an umbrella when I went hanging out with my friend. Turns out, I did not open the umbrella for rain at all, but to protect my skin from the sunlight. Since the weather was sunny, I took the chance to take this beautiful picture of a mall in Yokohama. It was a bit far from the center of Yokohama station itself, but it is close to the station called Center-Kita Station. There are several other malls around the area with great shops as well, so it is recommended as a place to hang out!

My Hero Academia Exhibition

Last week, I went to an exhibition of one of my favorite anime, My Hero Academia (僕のヒーローアカデミア). They had the exhibition at Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills, and it was such a fantastic experience. I went with another friend who is a fan of the show, and we stayed there for about two hours. There are original manga panels on display, and we can clearly observe the author’s strokes in the illustration. There are also decorations like cutout panels for the characters, and even grand ones like the statue on the photo. He is one of the most important characters of My Hero Academia, All Might.

Ferris Wheel

Do you know where this Ferris wheel is located? It’s in Yokohama! I often ride Ferris wheels back at home in Indonesia, but nothing is comparable to this one. This one is very big and tall. There are carts that have transparent floors, so it was super scary. The non-tranparent ones even have very wide windows. This is the first time I honestly feel frightened riding the Ferris wheel. But once I get used to it, I can actually enjoy the beautiful scenery.

By the River

Spending time by the Shinano River, Niigata has been my recent past time. It brings me peace and solitude to sit at one of the benches on the riverbank, either reading a book or meditating.

The weather is also great to just chill and have a moment of peace in this crazy, pandemic world.

What brings you peace nowadays?
