Dessert

I wasn’t a big fan of dessert when I was younger, things have changed since I went to Japan. There is an abundant collection of pastries and sweets and the price is so cheap (especially desserts sold in convenience stores, which have many seasonal limited flavors as well as traditional tastes). Unlike western sweets that tend to be very sweet and have powerful flavors, Japanese desserts focus on the natural flavors of the ingredients themselves. My favorite one among all, daifuku, is mochi filled with a variety of sweet fillings like red bean paste or ice-cream. Of course, I also love western desserts such as apple pie, tiramisu, etc. But the only downside about having a sweet tooth is that I have to care about my weight all the time.

New Camera

public.jpeg

This is my new camera. I just bought it last month. The brand is Nikon S2- Japanese brand. The thing I really love about this camera is that it is small and in a vintage style which I really love. On the other hand, I find out that Nikon S2 is considered as Japan's first successful rangefinder camera in standard format (35mm) while most previous cameras will shot by smaller films.

With this camera, I can enjoy my hobby of taking photo often as I love hanging around with my friends and keep our memory by saving them in the photographs.

My most favourite season is winter!

Hi guys! This is Mandu speaking. What is your favorite season among the four seasons? Mine is winter. This is because I love Christmas day so much; there are so many things I can do on Christmas, including preparing presents for my family and friends, writing letters for the Santa Claus, and cooking with my mother for Christmas parties. Moreover, I love winter because I really enjoy playing with snow. I can spend a whole day going skiing with my friends and making a snowman.

Although some people do not like winter because it is really cold sometimes, I just love every winter breeze so much that bearing the coldness is no longer a problem. I hope that one day I can walking on a frozen lake, because that sounds pretty fun!

I experienced winter in Japan twice! I wish I could find a job here so I can enjoy the winter in Japan every year!

Van Gogh Museum

Who is your favorite artist ? Have you thought about visiting that artist’s hometown? I’ve been liking Van Gogh’s artworks since I was little and I finally got a chance to visit the Netherlands this summer. The thing I really liked there is that you can pick one real sunflower before entering the museum. Sunflower symbolizes life, sunshine and vitality. I'm glad to see all the visitors to the museum wearing bright smiles on their faces.

Japanese Architecture on Starbucks

Yesterday I went to Kawagoe to see Japanesetraditional achitecture with my friend. I There I ate several Japanese sweet like Imokoi (which suprisingly tastes like Indonesian traditional cake). The old architecture there really amazed me. But, the most surprising one is the Starbucks cafe there. This Starbucks cafe that’s located in Kawagoe sightseeing area adopted Japanese architecture. I like the looks of it! And apparently it’s not only me! A lot of tourists tried to take several photos. I even had to wait to take a photo from nice angle. Below is the photo I managed to take.

National Museum of Nature and Science

public.jpeg

I visited the national museum of Nature and Science with my classmates few days ago. It was impressive to me that there contains all the items that I like in a museum, including history of people since prehistoric days; the formation of the planets and space; the marine environment around Japan; flora and fauna on earth, especially in Asia; the formation of different rocks, minerals and gemstones; dinosaur bones and animals around Asia; and a colourful butterfly collection. We spent a few hours looking at the exhibits and really had a good time after all.

Indonesian Traditional Clothes

Hello Everyone! I’m new here. This week is my third week here in Japan.

One of many things I realized after three weeks living in Japan is that Japanese people dress themselves very nicely and their style vary from each other. To me, Japanese people seem to put a lot of attention to fashion and their clothes. That’s why I’d like to show you Indonesian traditional clothes.

Indonesia has more than 700 tribes that’s spread out in 33 provinces in Indonesia. Each tribe usually has their own traditional clothes that’s unique and differs from each other. Does that mean you need to visit every province to see the traditional clothes? Worry not, you don’t need to do that. You can just visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) that’s located in our capital city, Jakarta. TMII has more than 50 collections of Indonesian traditional clothes. You can check some of them in the picture I took there below. In TMII, you can also find miniature of Indonesian traditional house, cultural exhibition, and many more.

If you are planning to go to Jakarta or just interested in Indonesian culture, just comment below. Maybe I can give you some tips! ;)

Yukata

This was the first time that I tried the Japanese traditional clothes- Yukata. For foreigners, Yukata and Kimono generally looks the same at the first sight. It is also hard for a foreigner to experience wearing Yukata by himself or herself. Luckily that I got some help from my Japanese friend. I really love wearing Yukata. Not only because it is beautiful but it is also because it is a part of Japanese culture.

Hot-spring in Odaiba

public.jpeg

One of the best place that gave me the unforgettable memory in my life is Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari. I came there with my parents. This is the first time that weexperienced the hot spring in Japan as well as wearing Yukata- Japanese traditional dress. It was so much fun. After enjoying the hot spring and fish therapy, we had dinner together and enjoyed the fun activities in here, And also, , I was strongly impressed by the the view there. It was well-decorated reflected the old street Oedo of Japan before. Generally, we had a really good time together.

Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower is well known for the second highest structure in Japan. Getting on the observation deck of it is one of the best experience for me. The view from there is really stunning. You can enjoy the Fuji Mount view as well as the whole city view.

Meiji Jingu Shrine

I visited Meiji-Jingu Shrine today and could not help but wonder about these wine barrels all the way home. It turns out these barrels of rice wine on display are very commonplace in any Shinto Shrine in Japan These are known as (sakedaru) wrapped in straw blankets are stacked and bounded together by rope on a wooden frame. The decoration of barrels known as ftE signifies a spiritual connection and relationship between brewers and shrines for prosperity Most brewers donate these sake barrels to shrines for Shinto ceremonies, rituals and festivals. For the Meiji-Jingu Shrine, the sake barrels are donated every year by the Meiji- Jingu Nationwide Sake Brewers Association *Wow* Japanese believe that sake symbolizes unification of Gods and people

Kawai Monster Cafe

public.jpeg

One of the best coffee shop I have ever been to is Kawai Monster coffee in Harajuku Station. I really had a good time and took a lot of good pictures with my friend there. The thing that impressed me the most is the decoration there. There are four concepts there, each concept will have a special area for you to enjoy. I also really love the Harajuku Monster Girls there. They are very cute and unique. Therefore, people need to queue for a long time for their turn to take picture with them. I would really love to visit there again.
